Introduction:

This April, Burns Gym had the honour of taking our award-winning exercise programme for seniors across the Atlantic to celebrate Tartan Week in the United States. As a Scotland-based company dedicated to transforming the lives of older adults, the visit marked more than a celebration—it was the start of an exciting international journey to support care homes and assisted living communities beyond the UK.

Why the USA?

The United States faces many of the same challenges as the UK: a growing older population, rising levels of frailty, and an urgent need for effective, preventative programmes in care homes and assisted living facilities. Our mission at Burns Gym is simple—keep seniors strong, steady, and socially connected through engaging, evidence-based movement. Tartan Week gave us the perfect platform to showcase the Burns Gym approach. With kilts packed and energy high, we shared how our live, Zoom-based classes are helping thousands of residents in the UK stay active, independent, and involved.

A growing global mission:

Our trip to the US wasn’t just about celebration—it was about connection. We've already started building partnerships with assisted living providers and senior wellness organisations who want to bring Burns Gym to their communities. With a fully digital model and proven success in hundreds of UK care homes, we’re ready to support American seniors in ageing with strength and confidence.

Interested in bringing Burns Gym to your residents?

Whether you're a care home director, wellness coordinator, family member, or part of an assisted living team, we’d love to connect. Our easy-to-implement programme fits seamlessly into your schedule and can be delivered either as a group class or through our Age with Vitality platform for individuals.

Let’s work together to make movement a daily habit for seniors—on both sides of the pond.
